Abstract
This paper describes recent results obtained with the Magnescope, whic h has been used on location in industrial environments and has success fully detected impending fatigue failure, creep damage, applied stress , and microstructural differences. It is concluded that the device pro vides a useful nondestructive method for evaluating the mechanical pro perties of materials through the measurement of their structure sensit ive magnetic properties.
