Abstract
The saturation magnetization, uniaxial anisotropy, and the dynamical m agnetic properties of amorphous (Co92Zr8)100-x(RE)x thin films have be en studied for various magnetic rare earths and for 0 < x < 3. The fil ms were rf sputtered in presence of a dc magnetic field applied parall el to the film plane. For RE = Nd, Pr, Dy, and Th, the films exhibit a n in-plane uniaxial anisotropy K(u), the magnitude of K(u) being relat ed to the particular RE. When RE=Gd and Sm a biaxial anisotropy develo ps constituted by a K(u) and a perpendicular anisotropy K(p). The reso nance linewidth as a function of x and RE is also reported.
