Abstract
A short and efficient synthesis of S-(+)-sulcatol, the population aggr egation pheromone produced by the males of Gnathotrichus sulcatus, usi ng nitroalkane synthon 1 is described. Bakers' yeast reduction has bee n used as the key step to get the required chirality.
