Abstract
This paper reports experimental investigation of the molecular particl e-flux density distribution, due to the atmosphere, inside the hood of a radiometer, between the entrance aperture and the cold mirror. The high precision of numerical methods, e.g., the Monte Carlo method, in such studies is confirmed. It was shown that the reduction in the diff use particle flux reaching the cold mirror depends, as usual, on the r atio of the hood diameter to its length and on the temperature of the hood walls, especially if this is lower than the temperature of the sa turated vapor of incident atmospheric particles. Fins on the hood surf ace are then found to have practically no effect.
