Thermal expansion measurements made on tension-creep-tested Mg-PSZ sho
w the recovery of much of the plastic strain that was induced by the c
reep test. The amount of plastic strain recovered on the initial measu
rement was found to increase with the time between the tension-creep e
xperiment and the initial thermal expansion measurement. Times in exce
ss of 100 days caused the recovery of more strain in the thermal expan
sion measurement than had initially been induced in the tension-creep
test. This aging process was accelerated by heating to 400-degrees-C.
These results are in qualitative agreement with an earlier neutron dif
fraction measurement.
