Arj. Andrews et al., NEW PURIFICATION TECHNIQUE FOR THE REMOVAL OF ORGANICS FROM AQUEOUS-SOLUTIONS USING SILICONE POLYMERS, Environmental science & technology, 27(6), 1993, pp. 1139-1145
A new technique for water purification has been developed to remove or
ganic contaminants in an aqueous solution using silicone polymers in t
he form of hollow fiber membranes. The method is simple to use and has
a low setup cost, high capacity, and efficiency. A number of paramete
rs such as solute concentration, wall-thickness of tubing, tube length
, diameter, effect of flow rate, capacity of the tubing, tubing type,
and effect of temperature and pressure have all been investigated. A s
imple mathematical treatment of the data is presented with good agreem
ent between experimental and theoretical data for the derived equation
.
