Abstract
With the aging of the male population, the increased incidence of beni gn prostatic disease will continue to be a challenge during the nw dec ade. Primary care physicians can best meet this challenge by having in -depth knowledge of the appropriate diagnostic tools and the benefits, risks, and possible side effects of the available treatment methods. of course, the find decision about any treatment regimen for a prostat ic disorder rests solely with the patient, who can make a rational and realistic decision only if he has been given complete and unbiased in formation. A well-informed primary care physician can be the prime sou rce of this information.
