The consequences of Lorentz covariance and of conservation of the nucl
ear current in calculations of the A(phi) asymmetry of the cross secti
ons of (e,e'p) reactions on few-nucleon systems are studied. It is sho
wn that the magnitude of A(phi) is very sensitive to various relativis
tic effects and to the conservation of the nuclear current. In the qua
si-elastic region (q2/2mnu is similar to 1,p(mis)/m much less than 1),
this asymmetry is determined solely by the degree of linear polarizat
ion of the virtual photon and by the structure of the electromagnetic
current, and at proton emission angles theta(p)c.m. > 50-degrees the A
(phi) asymmetry is determined both by the reaction mechanisms and by t
he intranuclear dynamics.
