Abstract
An edge-based finite element formulation with vector absorbing boundar y conditions is presented for scattering by composite structures havin g boundaries satisfying impedance and/or transition conditions. Remark ably accurate results are obtained by placing the mesh a small fractio n of a wavelength away from the scatterer.
