Abstract
A new palaemonid shrimp, Leptopalaemon gagadjui, gen. nov., sp. nov., from the Arnhem Land plateau, Australia, is described and illustrated, and its systematic position discussed. The new genus most closely res embles Leptocarpus Holthuis, 1950, presently known only from India. Pa laemonetes holthuisi Strenth is re-examined and excluded from the genu s Palaemonetes. A new genus, Calathaemon, is designated for its accomm odation.
