Abstract
Production of alkaline protease by Rhizopus species is an unusual phen omenon. However, a locally isolated species of Rhizopus oryzae was fou nd to secrete alkaline serine protease of industrial importance. The k inetic parameter V (reaction velocity) of the purified fractionated en zyme was evaluated under different environmental conditions and substr ate to enzyme ratios. The Michaelis constant (K(m)) and maximum reacti on velocity (V(max)) were also estimated.
