A study has been made of the effect of the concentration of aqueous so
dium hydroxide and monoethanolamine solutions on the degree of removal
of a soldering paste, based on an organic acid and rosin, from a meta
l surface. The phase composition and cleaning process have been invest
igated in the three-component system water-monoethanolamine-sodium hyd
roxide. The observed features have been compared with the surface and
bulk properties of the solutions.
