The reaction of NHEt2 with CO2 and chlorinated chromium(II) substrates
yielded Cr2(O2CNEt2)4(NHEt2)2 identical with the product obtained by
a different route. The dichloride beta-MoCl2 reacts with the NHEt2/CO2
system to give Mo2(O2CNEt2)4 in good yields. Crystal data: M(r) = 658

s; V = 676.6 angstrom3; Z = 1; D(c) = 1.610 g cm-3. Each molybdenum at
om in a square pyramidal geometry is surrounded by four carbamato oxyg
ens, the Mo-Mo distance of the quadruply bonded system being 2.067(2)
angstrom.
