H. Tamura et al., SIMULATION OF ELECTRORHEOLOGICAL FLUIDS WITH WATER CAPILLARY FORCES, International journal of modern physics b, 7(9-10), 1993, pp. 2057-2063
It is known that the viscosity of certain Electro-Rheological Fluids d
epends on the amount of water in the dispersed particles. One explanat
ion is the adhesion between contacting particles due to the capillary
force of water. In this work we investigate by computer simulations ho
w the aggregate structure and shear stress depend on the water capilla
ry force. From our simulation we found that when the capillary force b
ecomes larger, the shear resistance increases and the aggregates' shap
e changes from chain-like to compact.
