Abstract
We report a case of acute rhabdomyolysis associated with acute intrave nous cocaine intoxication in an asymptomatic HIV-positive young man an d discuss the possible pathogenetic mechanisms. Recent cocaine use mus t be considered among the causes of acute rhabdomyolysis without obvio us precipitating factors in our country too. The characteristically un collaborative attitude of habitual drug users may make differential di agnosis very difficult to establish.
