Je. Adhami et al., CLINICAL AND ULTRASOUND DATA IN CRUVEILHI ER-BAUMGARTEN CIRRHOSIS - AREVIEW OF 7 CASES, La Semaine des hopitaux de Paris, 69(20), 1993, pp. 599-603
Seven patients with Cruveilhier-Baumgarten cirrhosis were seen in Tira
na over the last nine years. All were male. Among the three patients w
ith onset of symptoms during childhood, two had digital clubbing, enla
rgement of the spleen and hypersplenism. Umbilical caput medusae swell
ing was seen in six patients. A thrill and venous hums were found in e
very case. Ultrasonography documented persistence of the umbilical vei
n or a dilated umbilical vein recess with paraumbilical veins. Doppler
studies showed routing of blood away from the liver. These ultrasonog
raphically-documented cases illustrate the features of this rare condi
tion.
