Abstract
Toxicity of NfD i.e. neutral fraction of winter neem leaves containing nimocinolide and isonimocinolide as major components (tetranor-triter penoids), extracted from Azadirachta indica was tested againt one week old rice weevils Sitophilus oryzae L. Its effect on enzyme activity ( acid phophatase and alkaline phosphatase) was determined as well as th e effect on protein metabolites was also observed by TLC method. The L D50 was calculated to be 0.0392 mg/sq.cm with the help of graph drawn on the log-log graph paper. Inhibition of alkaline phosphatase was 13. 17% and acid phosphate 4.28% by NfD. Inhibition of protein was also ob served by TLC.
