D. Honigl et al., SUBTLE NEUROPSYCHIATRIC SEQUELAE OF CARBON-MONOXIDE POISONING - A CASE-REPORT, The European journal of psychiatry, 7(1), 1993, pp. 12-14
After recovery from a transient confusional state following carbon mon
oxide poisoning a female patient developed deterioration in short-term
memory, moderate intellectual impairment and a marked loss of initiat
ive. She underwent a training programme comprising memory and concentr
ation items. Subtle neuropsychiatric disturbances are a well known seq
uel of carbon monoxide poisoning. Supportive psychotherapy and a conse
quently performed training programme may improve the long-term outcome
of this intoxication.
