Methods based on perturbation theory are proposed for calculating reso
nance frequencies in the enclosures of acoustical systems having a com
plex geometry. Computational methods using the boundary-element approa
ch and eigenfunction expansions of the structure of the internal sound
fields are investigated. Software packages have been written for the
IBM-XT computer, and calculations for various design configurations ar
e reported.
