Abstract
Isobutylene-isoprene rubber (butyl rubber) and butadiene-acrylonitrile rubber (nitrile rubber) blends have been prepared by precuring the sl ow curing butyl phase and then blending it with NBR. The optimum amoun t of precuring that has to be given in the butyl phase has been determ ined. The blends prepared by this novel method have been found to poss ess better mechanical properties compared to the corresponding convent ional blends.
