Abstract
The phase assemblage in Ag tapes with molten or partially molten Bi-Sr -Ca-Cu oxide cores of stoichiometries in the immediate vicinity of Bi: Sr:Ca:Cu = 2:2:1:2 was characterized. Four types of melt behavior were found. The results are discussed in terms of their relevance to the p rocessing of superconducting Ag-clad Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu oxide wires.
