Abstract
We report on the first measurements of light scattering studies of the viscoelastic properties of two new metallorganic nematic liquid cryst als and of their parent ligand 4-4'-bis(hexyloxy)-azoxybenzene. When t he magnetic properties of the liquid crystal are not known, light scat tering is an efficient technique to get qualitative and quantitative i nformation on the elastic constants and viscosities. The experimental results are discussed in the light of the molecular structure of the c ompounds.
