Abstract
An unsaturated, highly strained [5]metacyclophane derivative is one de scription of compound 2. which was obtained by the reaction of the hex ahalobispropellane precursor 1 (X = Cl) with tBuOK in dimethylsulfoxid e. Compound 2 was characterized by NMR spectroscopy and high-resolutio n mass spectrometry. [GRAPHICS]
