Abstract
RNA and DNA sequences can be distinguished efficiently with a modified oligonucleotide incorporating nonhydrolyzable sulfide linkages. A dod ecamer containing three thio-ether-linked riboT-T dimers 1 is easily p repared by standard solid-phase methods and binds cooperatively to com plementary RNA but not to DNA. Oligonucleotides of this type should be of use in antisense technology.
