Abstract
A mass transfer mechanism taking place in the electrochemical processe s, with gas release at the electrode, is proposed for the operating ra nge where the process is electrochemically controlled. According to th e mechanism, the interfacial forces developed at the electrode, play a n important part. Under the action of these forces, the liquid microla yer at the gas-bubble basis is having a complex movement governing the mass transfer process. A physical and a mathematical model, whose sol ution resulted in a relation for the calculation of the mass transfer coefficient for the microstat area. The theoretical relation obtained is compared to the experimental data. There is a good agreement betwee n the theory and experiments.
