Gb. Shevnina et al., STRUCTURAL FEATURES OF ULTRADISPERSE NICKEL PLATINUM PARTICLES, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 54(6), 1992, pp. 906-909
Physico-chemical methods are used to show that Pt-Ni particles obtaine
d by the simultaneous reduction of the salts Pt2+ and Ni2+ by sodium n
itrate have a mean diameter of about 2 nm. It is determined that nicke
l and platinum do not form an alloy and that the particles have the st
ructure of a sweet cherry, consisting of a platinum stone and a nickel
pulp. Both the nickel and the platinum are in the oxidized state in t
his case.
