Specific IgE against extracts of Sitophilus granarius (S.G.), the most
important mill storage vermin, was detected by Western-Blot-technique
and RAST-FEIA in 8 out of 53 sera from bakers suffering from occupati
onal air-way diseases. No specific IgE could be detected in sera from
control groups. These findings suggest that S.G. could act as relevant
allergen for at least a part of bakers with occupational airway disea
ses.
