Abstract
Interactions between epoxy and ester groups in a model system were stu died using a number of methods, including isothermal calorimetry, gel- permeation chromatography, and IR spectroscopy. A mechanism is propose d describing the insertion of epoxy groups into the ester ones. The re action is shown to result in the generation of oligomeric products via the formation of cyclic orthoester as an intermediate product.
