The influence of monochromatic laser radiation on the structure and pr
operties of polycaproamide is studied. Laser heating increases the abs
orption of radiation by polymers in the region in which the molecular
mobility becomes unfrozen. The analysis of the dependence of the polyc
aproamide interplanar distance on the energy-flux density of laser rad
iation reveals an anomaly in the thermal expansion of the lattice; tha
t is, the interplanar distances cease growing with an increase in the
energy-flux density of laser radiation. The temperature in the laser t
reatment zone was measured which allows one to relate the observed phe
nomenon with thermal transitions.
