Strong electron compressibility prevents the development of the tearin
g instability in plasma formations with strongly curved magnetic field
s. However, this stability effect is largely diminished due to the phe
nomenon of deterministic chaos. This is due to the boundary between th
e regions of chaotic and regular motion that may work like the Cherenk
ov cone for the potential component of a tearing perturbation.
