Photovoltaic characteristics of sandwich- type structures based on a p
olymeric photoconductor, polyhydroxyaminoester doped with molecules of
a halogen- containing compound (in particular, CBr4), were experiment
ally studied. The unique property of the polymeric photoconductor chos
en was that it was possible to obtain an inhomogeneous interface in th
e illuminated polymer-Al junction by preliminary photolithographic tre
atment of the polymer layer. This modification of the surface increase
d the photovoltaic current 5 - 6-fold in the UV and visible spectral r
anges, An additional ten-fold increase in the photocurrent was obtaine
d if a polymer-Se heterojunction was included in the sandwich structur
e in addition to creating the aforementioned surface inhomogeneity. Th
is was accompanied by a weak dependence of the photovoltaic current on
the incident light flux intensity. As a result, the photoconversion e
fficiency of 1.1% was reached at an illumination of about 10(-4) W/m2
(at a wavelength of 3090 nm).
