Abstract
The influence of changes in the chemical structure of mesogenic fragme nts on mesomorphic properties of polymers with flexible siloxane-methy lene spacers was studied by X-ray and calorimetric methods. It was sho wn that the liquid- crystalline properties of polymers become less dis tinct after the insertion of flexible methylene fragments into the mes ogenic units, which separates the latter into short rigid asymmetrical fragments, arranged in macromolecular chains in a ''head-to-head'' fa shion.
