The catalytic properties of systems based on alkyltitanium trichloride
s and dialkylaluminium chlorides were studied during the polymerizatio
n of propylene in the presence of graphite. The conditions of the form
ation of isotactic polypropylene in these systems were determined. ESR
spectroscopy data allowed us to conclude that titanium was not reduce
d in the presence of graphite, and the polymerization of propylene occ
urred on the derivative of titanium(IV).
