Abstract
Using recent atomic calculations, X-ray Ar X-VII line spectra have bee n synthesized as a function of electron temperature and density. These are compared with Alcator C tokamak spectra and show excellent agreem ent for measured values of temperature and density. Argon X-ray line r atios can thus serve as useful diagnostics of, e.g., solar plasmas for which direct measurements of temperature and density are not availabl e.
