Double excitation of helium by fast electrons, protons, He+ and He-2has been studied. High-resolution autoionization spectra and double di
fferential cross sections from doubly excited (2s2)1S, (2p2)1D, (2s2p)
P-1(o), (2p3p)1D, (2s3p)P-1(o), (2p4p)1D and (2s4p)P-1(o) states have
been measured for an observation angle of zero degree as a function of
the impact velocity and projectile charge. The transition amplitudes
for direct ionization and resonance ionization strongly interfere and
depend on the three-particle Coulomb interaction in the final state.
