My. Amusia et Av. Korol, RECENT DEVELOPMENTS OF POLARIZATIONAL BREMSSTRAHLUNG, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section B, Beam interactions with materials and atoms, 79(1-4), 1993, pp. 146-149
Recent results in the field of ''polarizational'' bremsstrahlung are d
iscussed. The bremsstrahlung cross-sections are presented for the coll
isions of medium-energy electrons with He, Ne and Xe atoms. It is show
n that in the high frequency limit the total bremsstrahlung spectrum i
s the same as for a bare nucleus. It is demonstrated that in ion-atom
collisions the polarizational bremsstrahlung is as intensive as from e
lectrons and can serve as a source of radiation for X-ray laser pumpin
g. Double bremsstrahlung taking the polarizational contribution into a
ccount is considered. Perspectives in this field are outlined.
