Abstract
The hyperfine dependence of exclusive muon capture in nuclei, mu -[Z, A] --> (nu(mu)[Z - 1, A], is sensitive to the coupling constants of t he proton's weak interaction, and can be measured through the capture time dependence induced by hyperfine transitions between the hyperfine states of the muonic atom. Here we report measurements of the hyperfi ne transition rates in mu- F, Na, and Cl, and a preliminary measuremen t of the capture hyperfine dependence on Na-23.
