Cryptosporidiosis is a zoonotic disease caused by o parasitic protozoa
n belonging to the coccidial genus Cryptosporidium. Current laboratory
methods are adequate for the detection of the infection when oocysts
are present in great numbers, but more-sensitive means of identificati
