When synchronizing communications systems the problem arises of estima
ting the time position of pulses. Interference in the communications c
hannel can have a considerable effect on the accuracy of the estimate.
In view of this, there is a need to find optimum algorithms and estim
ation devices which have the best accuracy when acted upon by a known
class of interference. By carrying out a statistical synthesis of the
optimum measuring system, designers can find ways of improving practic
al measuring systems with the aim of increasing their accuracy. A meth
od of estimating the parameters of a train of pulses when there is no
interperiod correlation of the interference was considered in [1]. Nev
ertheless, it is of interest to find a method of estimating the parame
ters when correlated (narrow-band) interference is acting on the syste
m. Below we propose algorithms and devices for estimating the time pos
ition of a train of coherent pulses on a background of Gaussian correl
ated interference.
