Abstract
Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to test the sensitivity of st andard bacteriological culture of Helicobacter pylori. The tests were concordant in 97% of cases. PCR did not detect more treatment failures after triple treatment than did the standard culture method. In the p resent study, culture was as sensitive as PCR for the detection of H. pylori.
