PURIFICATION AND PARTIAL CHARACTERIZATION OF WATER-SOLUBLE MEMBRANE-GLYCOPROTEINS LECTIN RECEPTORS

Water-soluble glycoproteins from human erythrocytes, murine neuroblast oma C 1300 and lymphoma NK/Ly cells were obtained by the modified Hama guchi method. Their properties were compared. All the preparations wer e heterogeneous in polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The binding of different specificity lectins (concanavalin A. castor bean agglutinin, lectins from kidney beans, helix and jack fruit) revealed that glycop roteins prepared from nucleated murine cells contain predominantly N-g lycosyl chains and differ from glycophorins of red blood cells, leukos ialin or glycocalicin. which are predominantly O-glycans.
