The data on the rhodopsin-like protein (RLP) of the flagellate chlamid
omonads and our earlier obtained materials concerning GTP-binding prot
eins of these protozoans are summarized. New facts about the interacti
on of the mammalian photoreceptor transducin with the chlamidomonad RL
P containing not only 11-cis-, but also trans-form of the retinal, are
presented. Using a spectially constructed device allowing one to eval
uate separately the cell chaotic movements and their phototaxis, it ha
s been shown that dibutyryl cAMP and neomycin do nof affect the latter
process.
