FT-Raman, normal Raman spectra of artemisinin in solid state and surfa
ce-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra of 1 x 10(-5) mol/L artemi
sinin aqueous solution were recorded. 1756 cm-1 hexatomic lactonic rin
g vibration which, was shown strong in FT-Raman and normal Raman spect
ra disappeared in SERS spectra. This phenomenon appeared to result fro
m the broken of lactonic ring. The adsorption orientation of artemisin
in on silver was deduced according to the change of 1756 cm-1 lactonic
ring vibration and the frequency shift of 724 cm-1 peroxide group vib
ration. The interaction between artemisinin and hemin was also studied
using SERS spectra. The adsorption of artemisinin on silver had evide
nt change after addition of hemin.
