Abstract
The stresses which act on the surface of a superconductor surrounded b y an isotropic dielectric fluid at rest are evaluated. Moreover, it is proved that there exists an infinite set of second-order tensors whic h yield these stresses. The magnetic Helmoltz stress tensor belongs to this set.
