Abstract
We report here a study on the dynamic critical behaviour (DCB) at the nematic-isotropic (NI) transition in 8CB using the frequency and tempe rature dependences of proton spin-lattice relaxation rates. Both these dependences and the DCB are very similar in all the members of the cy anobiphenyl series measured so far. The DCB is also similar to that ob served in MBBA although the frequency dependence of the total relaxati on rates is slightly different.
