ptions that services were helpful and confidential Frequent users scor
ed highest on measures of psychological distress. Most nonusers indica
ted they were healthy and didn't need help, but over one fourth did ac
knowledge not wanting others to know about their problems. Less than o
ne fifth indicated parental objections as a factor. In contrast to cli
nic nonusers, clients reported less availability and satisfaction with
help and support from family members.
