Ay. Khairullina et al., DATABASE FOR THE OPTICAL AND BIOPHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF BLOOD, BIOLOGICAL TISSUES, AND BIOLOGICAL LIQUIDS IN THE VISIBLE AND NEAR-IR REGIONS, Journal of optical technology, 64(3), 1997, pp. 198-201
The database contains information on the optical properties (the diffu
se reflectance and transmittance, the refractive indices, the photon f
ree path length) and the biophysical properties (the degree of oxygena
tion of blood hemoglobin, the mean size of the disperse phase, the hem
atocrit, the total hemoglobin, etc.) in the visible and near-IR region
s for one hundred samples of the blood of various pathologies (anemia,
atherosclerosis, lupus erythematosus, diabetes) and for normal blood,
as well as forty samples of biological tissues (cancerous and normal
tissues of the mammary and thyroid glands, samples of the liver, lungs
, and muscle tissue of the rabbit), and thirty samples of plasma and s
ynovial fluid for various pathologies. Features of the absorption spec
tra of blood, biological tissues, and biological liquids and the avera
ge sizes of the disperse phase are analyzed for various diseases in or
der to find specific sensors. (C) 1997 The Optical Society of America.
