Buckminsterfullerenes, C60/C70 (9/1) were reduced electrochemically an
d their spin densities were measured by the electron spin resonance (E
SR). The ratios of the spin number to the charge number injected by el
ectrochemical doping increased and then decreased, suggesting that the
neutral C60 converted to C60- with spin and to spinless C-60(2-) by t
he reduction. In addition, a preliminary result of photoinduced absorp
tion spectrum and photoluminescence is also reported, which indicates
the band gap of ca. 2.4 eV and the photoinduced excitonic states in th
e band gap.
