Lh. Visser et al., HEMIPARKINSONISM IN A PATIENT WITH PRIMARY SJOGRENS-SYNDROME - A CASE-REPORT AND A REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE, Clinical neurology and neurosurgery, 95(2), 1993, pp. 141-145
A 55-year-old woman presented with hemiparkinsonism on the left side.
Clinical features suggested primary Sjogren's syndrome. Eye tests and
a salivary gland biopsy confirmed this diagnosis. Magnetic resonance i
maging of the brain showed distinct linear lesions of increased intens
ity on the T2-weighted images in the right striatum and globus pallidu
m. Treatment with prednisone and azathioprine did not give any improve
ment of the neurological symptoms. To date, hemiparkinsonism in associ
ation with primary Sjogren's syndrome has not been reported.
