Abstract
Histones of the endosymbiont nucleus of the binucleate dinoflagellate Peridinium foliaceum Stein were prepared from isolated nuclei and anal yzed by peptide mapping, amino acid composition, and two-dimensional g el electrophoresis. Using these criteria, we identified the presence o f two H1-like histones and the core histones H3, H2A, H2B, and H4. The se histones are similar but not identical to those of the endosymbiont nucleus of the binucleate dinoflagellate Peridinium balticum Levander .
